B.A. (Hons) English at Delhi University reads literature chronologically while building critical method. As of 2026, the UGCF 2022 programme lists Sem 1 DSCs as Introduction to Literary Studies (UPC 2032101101), European Classical Literature (2032101102) and Indian Classical Literature (2032101103), each 4 credits (3 theory + 1 tutorial). Sem 2-4 continue with 14th-17th Century Poetry, 16th-17th Century Drama, 18th Century Literature, Romantic and Victorian Literature, and American and Indian Writing. Students often lose marks not for lack of reading but for unstructured answers: examiners expect close reading, textual references and a clear argument rather than plot summary.
