Delhi University has confirmed the broad schedule for the 2026–27 odd semester. If you are in Semester 1, 3, 5 or 7, here is everything that matters — and how to use the next 60 days.
Key dates (official academic calendar)
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Classes began | July 28, 2026 |
| Autumn break | October 18–25, 2026 |
| Preparation leave & practical exams begin | November 20, 2026 |
| Theory exams begin | December 4, 2026 |
| Winter break | December 25–31, 2026 |
The detailed paper-wise date sheet is released separately on DU's examination portal (exam.du.ac.in) — usually 3–4 weeks before exams begin. Track it on our DU tentative datesheet page too. Check venues and shifts the day it drops; they change every semester.
Why the next 60 days decide your SGPA
DU's UGCF papers are strictly unit-wise, and question themes repeat heavily. Analysis of recent papers shows roughly 40% of question themes recur every 2–3 years. That makes previous-year papers the single highest-ROI study material you own.
The 60-day plan
Now → Nov 19 (regular classes): syllabus mapping + PYQ-first study. For each paper: download the syllabus, mark every unit, then solve the last 5 years of PYQs before deep theory revision. Build a topic-frequency table — the 6–8 topics carrying ~70% of marks become obvious. The 3-pass PYQ method walks through exactly how.
Nov 20 → Dec 3 (prep leave): timed papers. One full 3-hour handwritten paper per subject per week. DU rewards presentation: structured answers with flowcharts and diagrams score disproportionately well.
