No admit card, no entry โ€” DU is strict about this at every exam centre. The good news: downloading it takes about five minutes once you know where to look. Here's the exact process for regular DU students, plus what to do if something on it is wrong.

Before you start: fill your examination form first

Your admit card is generated after your examination form is confirmed, so if you haven't filled the form on the exam portal yet, do that first. Per DU's official instructions, the flow is:

  1. Register on the DU examination student portal (under exam.du.ac.in) with a valid email ID and phone number. You'll get a registration number.
  2. Log in using your college/department name, registration number, name, date of birth and email โ€” these must match what you registered with.
  3. Fill the examination form, upload your photo and signature, and pay the exam fee for your papers.
  4. Download the "Tentative Examination Form" report and check every detail on it carefully.
  5. Your college/department confirms the form, and you'll get a confirmation email on your registered email ID.

Only after confirmation does your admit card become available for download.

Downloading the admit card: step by step

  1. Go to exam.du.ac.in and open the student portal login.
  2. Log in with the same credentials you used for the examination form (college name, registration number, name, date of birth, email).
  3. Look for the "Provisional Admit Card" download option in your dashboard.
  4. Download the PDF and print 2โ€“3 clear copies on A4 paper. Keep a soft copy on your phone as backup, but carry a printout โ€” that's what centres ask for.

DU releases admit cards on the university website before the commencement of examinations, so if yours isn't showing yet, check back closer to the exam dates rather than panicking.

What to verify the moment you download it

DU itself advises students to check the printed information carefully, because these details are used for printing your degree. Verify:

  • Your name (including the Hindi spelling, if printed)
  • Enrollment number and exam roll number
  • Programme, semester and paper codes for each subject
  • Exam centre name and address
  • Your photograph and signature

If any detail is wrong

Don't wait โ€” get it corrected through your college or department immediately. Your college's exam nodal officer handles these corrections. This matters more than most students realise: an error left uncorrected now can end up printed on your degree later.

If you're unable to download the admit card at all after your form is confirmed, contact your college's examination nodal officer (colleges publish their nodal officer's contact on their websites) or write to the examination branch through the email you used in your examination form.

Are you a SOL student?

The process above is for regular college students. If you're enrolled with the School of Open Learning (SOL), your admit card comes from a different portal: the hall ticket section on sol.du.ac.in (you'll need your SOL roll number, and in some cases your barcode). Don't mix the two up.

Exam-day checklist

  • Printed admit card (2 copies โ€” one spare never hurt anyone)
  • A valid photo ID (college ID card, Aadhaar, etc.)
  • Reach the centre before the reporting time printed on the card
  • Cross-check your paper codes against the official date sheet โ€” if the date sheet and admit card ever disagree, the date sheet issued by the Examination Branch is final

While you're preparing, grab your papers' previous year questions from Sulaksh โ€” matching the paper code on your admit card to the PYQ set is the fastest way to revise exactly what you'll face. B.Com students can start at the B.Com Programme PYQ hub.
